That’s Interesting 20.07.18

From stretchy ice cream to Casper’s on-the-go napping service,  here’s some things that made us say “That’s interesting” in the studio this week.

Elastic ice cream

New York-based dessert parlour Republic of Booza has recently introduced the traditional treat of elastic ice cream to its incredulous consumers. Thanks to its main ingredient, Booza, a Middle Eastern recipe, the ice cream is resistant to melting, has a denser texture than regular ice cream and most amazingly, can be stretched as gum.

Napping on the go

Mattress company Casper has just extended its retail offer in an unusual way: The Dreamery is a dark space inside the brand’s main flagship, where visitors can book up to 45 minutes of nap time. Each customer is allocated a private wooden pod, with bedding, pyjamas and cleansing amenities provided.

Beautiful imperfections

Ceramics company Cedit has just partnered with design studio Formafantasma to create Cromatica, a new collection of tiles. The range is designed to allow subtle irregularities in colour, going against the strive for homogeneity to provide a crafted, hand-made feel.

Fan-made content

Barcadi is making the most out of the potential of IGTV, Instagram’s new video platform. To create its most recent video, the rum brand polled its followers, asking them to be involved in the development of the dance short-film, including which moves, style or length of video they would like to see.
