Peroni Nastro Azzurro began its journey in 1963. Brewed in honour of the SS Rex, which won the ‘Nastro Azzurro’ (Blue Riband) for the fastest passenger liner crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in 1933, it is a brand known for impeccable style as well as its premium quality.

Since arriving on these shores, Peroni has set the benchmark for the sector, successfully reinventing its inspirational heritage for a modern audience. To ensure its status as an icon was secure, the brand sought to reinvigorate its secondary packaging as it was inconsistent with the forward-thinking design values of the brand.

Working with the UK business, we supported Peroni in getting ahead of the curve by identifying opportunities for packaging innovation. The result was a unique secondary packaging solution for the bottled 4-pack that reflected Peroni’s place in the market as a symbol of Italian excellence and superior craftsmanship.

The fully enclosed pack structure features a dynamic ‘asymmetrically’ curved base, inspired by the flowing lines of the blue ribbon and embodying classic Italian design styling. An integrated carry handle allows consumers a view of the product within whilst a perforated opening removes the whole of the pack top, so bottles can be easily accessed straight from the fridge.

Mirroring the brand’s signature style with a profile that is distinctly Peroni, the new pack restored this Italian classic to rightful pride of place on shelf.
